What is a hose tail?

What's the difference between crimp and field-attachable fittings?
Crimp fittings are swaged on with a machine (permanent, high pressure). Field-attachable fittings screw together with hand tools - handy for field repairs and often reusable.
How do I match a hose tail to my hose?
It has to suit the hose ID (dash size), the hose type/series and crimp spec, and carry the correct thread on the other end. See the thread guide.
